Cows & Bulls

Rules

Guess a 4 letter word in 6, 8 or 10 tries.
The answer will not contain any repeating letters - words like LOOP are a no-go.
After each guess, you are told the number of cows & bulls for that guess.

Cows - Number of letters present in the word but in the wrong position.

Bulls - Number of letters present in the word and in the correct position.

Use the information given to you via cows & bulls to guess the answer!

Example

Let the answer be GAME.

GOAL

1C 1B

G is in the answer and is the first letter in both the guess & answer - so it is a bull.

A is in the answer but its position in the guess & answer are not the same - so it is a cow.

In-game, when you do not know the answer - you can only tell:

2 letters in G, O, A & L are in the answer.
Out of these 2 letters, only 1 of them is in the correct position.

Use the fact that positional information is given to you to narrow down the answer!
